HEALTH

Both Sustainable Development Goals and National Health Policy aim to ensure accessibility, affordability, and availability of quality health services through preventive, promotive, and curative healthcare across all levels. At WHRC, we strive to achieve these goals by designing implementation programs that align with national health mandates, priorities, and on-ground requirements. Our evidence-based approaches and designs follow strict quality parameters, with a strong emphasis on innovation, sustainability, result-oriented initiatives, and community participation. We aim to empower individuals and communities to make informed choices and adopt healthy behaviors. To ensure sustainability, our interventions are focused on approaches that can be effectively integrated with existing health schemes and government plans. We provide strategic inputs and activities to improve the delivery, scaling, and sustainability of health programs.

1.EYE CAMPS:

Since 2009, WHRC has organized 17 eye camps in different villages in Adilabad district in collaboration with L V Prasad Eye Hospital, Sadhuram Eye Hospital, and Indo US Eye Hospital. These camps have provided eye tests to 2,820 patients from 49 villages under the guidance of qualified eye surgeons from Hyderabad, assisted by professional ophthalmic assistants. We have distributed 630 prescribed spectacles and medicines free of charge and referred 198 patients for operations to manage cataracts or other eye problems. This year, we are conducting eye camps for school-going students.

WHRC and Ujwala Institute for Multiple Disabilities, in coordination with Indo U.S. Eye Hospital, Malakpet, organized a “FREE EYE CHECKUP” camp on 27.11.2015 at Vignan Jyothi Grammar High School, Venkat Reddy Nagar, Uppal, Hyderabad. Sri V. Soma Sekhar Goud inaugurated the free eye checkup camp, appreciating WHRC’s activities and encouraging future initiatives to reach everyone in society. 400 students from 1st to 10th standard benefited from this camp, with 44 students receiving treatment and spectacles. Dr. Murali (Indo U.S. Eye Hospital), Sri Murali Krishna (Program Coordinator), and Sri Sai (Ophthalmologist) explained preventive measures to protect eyes.

2.ARODY ADAARA

HOMEO MEDICINE DISTRIBUTION:

Arogyadaara is a program by WHRC that distributes homeopathic medicines for various diseases such as sunstroke, diarrhea, seasonal fever, dengue, and swine flu.

  • WHRC has distributed free homeopathic medicine kits containing 42 medicines to 100 schools and villages in past years in coordination with EF.
  • This year, WHRC distributed sunstroke medicine in villages during summer. Previously, we distributed preventive medicine for diarrhea, seasonal fever, and dengue in our areas of operation, covering 4,270 families in 51 villages across two mandals.
  • WHRC also distributed free homeopathic swine flu medicine to slum areas in Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy districts.

3. CLEFT LIP AND PH

Since 2009, WHRC has identified patients suffering from limb problems and babies with cleft lip issues, taking them to Hyderabad for treatment. We have assisted 18 children with cleft lip operations and provided Jaipur limbs to 3 individuals.

Cleft lip and palate are birth defects where there is an opening in the lip and/or palate due to incomplete development during early fetal formation. These occur in about 1 or 2 of every 1,000 babies born in India each year. The good news is that both cleft lip and palate are treatable through surgery within the first 12-18 months of life. WHRC has been proactive in identifying and treating these cases, educating parents, and facilitating operations in Hyderabad. We have also provided Jaipur limbs to individuals with limb problems.

4.HEALTH CAMPS:

WHRC has organized health camps at various locations in Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy districts, arranging for doctors to conduct health check-ups and provide free medicines and other services. These camps were held in various schools, such as Akshara Techno Schools, Balapur X Road, Meerpet Municipalities, and villages and mandal headquarters, particularly in slum areas where health awareness is crucial.

5.HEALTH CAMPS:

WHRC, in collaboration with Om Sai Hospitals, Balapur, conducts FREE HEALTH CAMPS at Akshara Techno School, Balapur X Road. In these camps, Dr. Farhath R Ahmed (child specialist) and Dr. M.V. Reddy check the health of children and their parents, provide prescriptions, and offer health suggestions. In a recent camp, 230 students and their parents participated. Mr. Rajashekar, Koteshwar Rao (Hospital Manager), Mr. M. Amarendar (WHRC Secretary and Correspondent of Akshara Techno School, Balapur X Road), teachers, parents, and children participated in this program.

6.BACKYARD PLANTATION OR KITCHEN GARDEN:

WHRC has organized campaigns to promote kitchen gardens in households, encouraging the growth of fruits and vegetables for balanced nutrition. We have provided 4,500 families in Adilabad district with seeds and fruit plants to ensure regular availability of essential nutrients.

7.SANITATION

WHRC encourages sanitation in villages through constructing soak pits and toilets in households. Awareness sessions are organized to motivate villagers to build soak pits and toilets through community effort (Shramdaan). This initiative has led to the construction of 1,000 soak pits and 1,200 toilets in villages across Indravelli Mandal, enhancing cleanliness and increasing groundwater levels.

8.COVID-19 RELIEF

The COVID-19 crisis has significantly impacted daily wage earners and people in villages and peri-urban areas. WHRC has been actively providing emergency relief by distributing groceries to 350 families, 5,000 masks, sanitizers, and vegetables to needy and migrant laborers in several places. We have reached 450 families, including 100 families of budget private school teachers, in Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy districts of Telangana.
