ART & CULTURE PROGRAMMES

The Department of Language & Culture, Telangana State, and Creative Theatre jointly organized the Telangana Yuva Natakostavalu at Ravindra Bharathi, Hyderabad on January 29, 2017. Drama artists from the World Human Rights Council (WHRC), Hyderabad performed the “HALAHALAM” drama, which received a great response from the public. The drama reflects the struggles of people affected by fluoride contamination and how one individual fought against political corruption by supporting these people through difficult situations, symbolized by “Halahalam (poison).” Sri Ramana Chary, Cultural Advisor for the Telangana Government, presented mementos to the director and artists. Santhosh, Srinivasa Rao, Sainath, Samatha, and Sivaram delivered outstanding performances. The drama was narrated by writer Sri Maram Maraiah and directed by Sri M. Arun Kumar.

  1. “HALAHALAM” Drama Programme at Khammam

The Department of Language & Culture and Creative Theatre, Telangana, jointly organized the Telangana Yuva Natakostavalu at the Varthakasangam building, Khammam on March 17, 2017. Drama artists from the World Human Rights Council (WHRC), Hyderabad performed the “HALAHALAM” drama, which received a great public response. The drama depicted the conditions before the formation of Telangana state, highlighting the neglect of people affected by fluoride contamination by the anti-Telangana government, leading to suicides and political corruption. Sekhar played the role of a villager seeking solutions for village problems. The drama also showed the new government’s initiatives for drinking water and crop irrigation after Telangana’s formation. Santhosh, Srinivasa Rao, Sainath, Samatha, and Sivaram delivered compelling performances. The drama was narrated by writer Sri Maraiah and directed by Sri M. Arun Kumar.

  1. “HALAHALAM” Drama Programme at Sri Potti Sriramulu Telugu University, Nampally

Potti Sriramulu Telugu University and the Department of Cinema, TV & Drama Development jointly conducted the “HALAHALAM” drama programme at Nandamuri Tarakaramarao Kalavedika, Potti Sriramulu Telugu University, Nampally on March 23, 2017. Drama artists from the World Human Rights Council (WHRC), Hyderabad performed the drama, which received a great response from the public. Sri S.V. Satyanarayana, head of the university, and Dr. Sattireddy, Registrar, Potti Sriramulu Telugu University, attended as special guests. Acharya Smt. T. Jayamanohar and Dr. Kotla Hanumantha Rao were the honorable guests. The drama depicted the situation before the formation of Telangana state, focusing on the neglect of fluoride-affected people by the anti-Telangana government, leading to suicides and political corruption. Surabhi Santhosh, Samatha, Srinivasa Rao, Pavan, Prabhakar, Najiya, and Sivaram performed excellently. The drama was narrated by writer Sri Mallam Maraiah and directed by Sri M. Arun Kumar.

  1. “GRANDALAYAM” Drama Programme at Ravindra Bharathi, Hyderabad

The Department of Language & Culture, Telangana State, and Creative Theatre jointly organized the State-level Grandalaya Natakalu at Ravindra Bharathi, Hyderabad on September 25, 2019. School children from the World Human Rights Council (WHRC), Hyderabad performed the “GRANDALAYAM” drama, which received a great response from the public. The drama emphasized the importance of libraries (Grandalayam) in educating people.
